This is a great question! Contracting with insurance carriers limits some of the freedoms associated with the services we provide. For this reason, there are several benefits to private pay. Some of these benefits include:
Greater freedom in treatment frequency, number of sessions allowed, and treatment modalities used.
Extended privacy, as insurance companies frequently request information about therapy sessions to justify payment.
The ability to provide treatment without a mental health diagnosis in your medical file.
Without a diagnosis, we can discuss a wider range of topics in sessions, including relational and stage of life issues that are often not covered by insurance providers.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Even though we don’t contract with any specific insurance provider, some insurance will still reimburse for our services through “out of network” benefits. If you would like to explore this option, we are happy to provide you with a Superbill after each session to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please check with your individual insurance carrier to inquire about your out of network coverage.
